You aren’t what you eat but in fact, you are what you absorb!
This may sound a little strange but it’s 100% true! You could eat 5 servings of vegetables everyday but if your gastrointestinal tract can’t absorb the nutrients, then the benefits are minimal. The reality is, there are many reasons why we aren’t able to absorb nutrients effectively. Some reasons include inflammation, poor digestion, digestive upset, health conditions and in some cases, certain phytonutrients can block the absorption of other micronutrients.
This is where activated nuts come in. Nuts in their raw state contain phytonutrients that can inhibit digestive enzymes and also mineral absorption. However by activating nuts, we denature these phytonutrients, making them readily available for digestion and the absorption of all the amazing nutrients that are found in nuts.
Activated nuts how to:
- Place nuts (or seeds) into a large bowl with filtered water (1:1 ratio) and salt (see below)
- Leave nuts to soak in a warm place for the required time (see below)
- Rinse nuts and either dehydrate or use straight away in smoothies, cheesecakes or nut butter
- To dehydrate nuts, spread a single layer of nuts on a baking tray. Place in oven at 60°C for 12-24 hours, or until completely dry. (For seeds, dehydrate for 12 hours)
