WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL MEDICINE?
Nutritional Medicine recognises the impacts of nutritional principles on human health. More specifically, a clinical nutritionist will assess the affects an individual’s diet is having on their overall health or health condition. This involves assessing the balance of macro and micronutrients, food quality, food preparation and identifying any intolerance to food or allergies.
Nutritional Medicine places a large focus on identifying the cause of illness, rather than symptom focused, and also on disease prevention. Nutrients are the building blocks for our biological processes and makeup. However if we become deficient in these essential nutrients, disease may occur.
Clinical nutritionists identify health concerns through a holistic approach that may include, but not limited to, dietary analysis, allergy testing, health history, iridology, skin, tongue and nail analysis, and symptomology identification. Treatment for clients may include individualised meal plans, nutritional supplements, nutritional education and lifestyle recommendations.
